Welcome to our site

As part of our final work for chemical engineering bachelors degree we are working to improve the production of lipids using the green microalgae Scenedesmus dimorphus. To do so we will variate the nitrogen concentration (Urea from 1.2g/L to 2.4g/L) and nutrient deprivation time. We will also investigate the effect of CO2 as a form of agitation. The pH values will be recorded daily, also the algae concentrations and the Urea concentration will be measured every 3 days. For more information about this, you can enter to the back-ground area. You can also see photos of our set-up and videos. In this web page we will bring all the actualized information about the progress of our investigation.

a. I-29°C, II-31°C y Shaker 21°C

3. CO2 estaba apagado

4. Todos los cultivos sedimentados (fuente CO2)

7. Luces prendieron a las 10:50am

8. Shaker se daño a las 5:35pm.

September/10/2009.

1. Lights turned on at 8:30am.

2. The temperatures for the tanks at 9:34am were:

a. I-29°C, II-31°C and Shaker 21°C

3. CO2 was turned off.

4. All the cultures were with CO2 were sedimented ( CO2 agitation source).

5. Shaker cultures were sedimented, it was mannually agitated to break up the sedimentation.

6. Water was heated to be added to shaker an elevate the temperature (30°C), it does not heat by its self.

7. Light turned on at 10:50am.

8. Shaker stop working at 5:35pm.
